The advent of the Christian Diaspora in the western hemisphere begins in the early seventies and along with it the fervent wishes to find a suitable place of worship. The yearning and the true sacrifices of a few members lead to the current abode for the Lord and the dream became a reality for the Indian Orthodox Christians.
The Church was Consecrated by Bishop His Grace Dr.Thomas Mar Makarios on May 7th, 1980 and Rev. Fr. T.A. Thomas was appointed as the Vicar. It was auspicious and a blessing to begin the church of St. George on May 7th when his feast is being observed in the homeland. Thus Church of St. George became the first church in the western hemisphere to be owned and consecrated, a great leap of faith and the beginning of the Malankara Orthodox tradition in the west-a distinct honor and pride for the Indian Orthodox Christians.
The church currently has 83 members and has a host of faithful waiting to be initiated into the church membership. The present situation of seeking a spacious abode for the Lord will come to fruition very soon, we hope and pray.
