
A Vision for the future of St. George Malankara Orthodox Church, Staten Island
The Church has given a lot of prayerful consideration to what God would have us do in the future. As the first church bought and consecrated for the Malankara Syrian Orthodox church of India in the Western hemisphere, our existing building has served the church and the American Diocese well for the past 34 years and more than repaid the original costs. Those who sought to glorify God and serve him through these premises in the past have seen their mission fulfilled and extended. Our worship on Sundays and many of our other activities stretch the building beyond its intended capacity. It is time to build on the good work of the past and extend the work again with a new church building.
Our long Cherished Goal of a new Church is one step closer. Diffendale and Kubec Architects have developed the plans and specifications for our New Place of Worship. The plans have been approved by the New York City Building Department and permits issued for Construction. Church Constructors. Inc, Stroudsburg, PA has been retained as Construction Managers to manage the constructions of the New Church at our Sunset Avenue Property.
